HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Zambooie is a great example of living the American dream. Michael Lewis and Bruce Fitzhugh were music industry veterans with 20 plus years of experience between them who started as performers and eventually moved into record label executive production, marketing, A&R and artist management. They teamed up and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee with their families to help establish a rock record label. After getting off the ground, Lewis and Fitzhugh realized they were not headed in the direction they had originally planned with the label. They wanted something more; something different that would be successful and fulfill their desire to be part of something cutting edge.

While working day jobs to help make ends meet, Lewis and Fitzhugh teamed up with Allen Frye, a computer guru who had an extensive background in the dot-com movement. All three knew they wanted to start a company without the help of outside investors to avoid the risk of losing creative control. Together, they developed the concept for Zambooie and opened their first online store in December 2002, running the site out of Lewis’ townhouse. With the site up and the first store successfully selling merchandise, they approached all the contacts they had made over the years and began to build their roster.

Lewis, Fitzhugh and Frye worked all day and spent all night at the post office, filling and mailing out orders from the previous day. At times, it seems almost impossible to accomplish what they had started out to do, but they were determined! By 2003, Zambooie had seven employees on staff. Lewis, Fitzhugh and Frye were able to quit their day jobs and work for Zambooie full-time.

WE TAKE YOUR ORDERS. WE SHIP THEM OUT.

Orders for all our stores are received online and in the mail. Each day the CD’s, t-shirts and other merchandise are packed up with care and shipped to fans all over the world. Our hard working order fillers pack and ship over 70,000 orders a year!

SCREEN PRINTING SHOP

For bands and labels we work with who don’t any have merchandise to sell – we have the ability to screen print cool designs on most anything including t-shirts, hats, messenger bags, hoodies, track jackets and lots more. And if you don’t have artwork, that’s not a problem either. We have our own art department who can come up with art that represents you and your band or label in the best way. In addition to printing for our online stores we also print for touring bands. Have questions about printing? You can e-mail the shop at printing@zambooie.com.

WHO DO WE WORK WITH?

Typically we put together online stores for established bands who are signed to labels and touring in support of CD releases. But every once in a while we get excited about a band or label that is just getting started and make an exception. Either way, we’re going to take you to the next level.
